Baptism

The sacrament of Holy Baptism is full initiation by water and the Holy Spirit into Christ's Body the Church. As such, it is an important event, not just for the person being baptized but also for the entire parish community. At baptism we remember and celebrate again God's call to us to be in relationship with him as the People of God.

Baptism takes place during the Eucharist on Sunday. Holy Baptism is especially appropriate at the Easter Vigil, on the Day of Pentecost (50 days after Easter Day), All Saints' Sunday (the first Sunday in November), and on the Feast of the Baptism of our Lord (the Sunday after January 6). Holy Baptism is also appropriate at the time of the Bishop's visitation.

Persons interested in the sacrament for themselves or for their children should contact the parish office for more information and dates.

Baptismal preparation is required prior to the date of any baptism and is normally held on the Saturday before the baptismal date. Parents and God-Parents are asked to be present when the person being baptized is a child.

Baptisms are held on:

  • All Saints
  • Feast of our Lord
  • Easter II
  • Pentecost
  • Sunday closest to Feast of St. Christopher
  • When the Bishop is Present
