WeddingsCouples need not be members of St. Christophers Church to be married here, but everyone married in the Episcopal Church must conform to the requirements for marriage as set forth in the Book of Common Prayer and the Canons of the Episcopal Church. For more information on weddings please contact: office@stchrisophers-mn.org. As St. Christophers is an Episcopal Church, weddings must conform to the requirements set forth in The Book of Common Prayer (1 979) and the Canons of the Episcopal Church. The service, "The Celebration and Blessing of a Marriage" is the liturgical form used for all weddings at Trinity. In addition, the canons of the Church require that at least one member of the couple be baptized. Since weddings have a civil component as well as a sacramental one, the couple must also meet all the legal requirements of the state of Minnesota before the ceremony can take place. One of the clergy of St. Christophers Church will normally officiate at weddings. Clergy from other Episcopal parishes or dioceses may request to officiate here by letter to the Rector. Clergy from other denominations are always welcome to assist the parish clergy, at the invitation of the Rector. Weddings are not normally scheduled on Sundays, during Lent, or the days of Holy Week. Weddings may be scheduled on weekday evenings if necessary or on Saturdays at 10 am, 2 pm, 4 pm, and 6 pm. Under normal circumsances, rehearsals are held the day before the wedding, and rehearsal times are arranged by the Rector with the Wedding Coordinator. A member of the Wedding Guild of St. Christophers Church will be present at both the rehearsal and the wedding, to assist the clergy as well as the bride and groom. The couple should make an appointment with the Wedding Guild as soon as possible to arrange details of the ceremony. Still and video photography are permitted during the service, with some limitations. Q. What is Holy Matrimony? A. Holy Matrimony is Christian marriage, in which the woman and man enter into a life‑long union, make their vows before God and the Church, and receive the grace and blessing of God to help them fulfill their vows. |
