We are an inclusive, progressive Christian community, caring for others as we live into Christ’s message of love.
Stable and well-educated, our congregation had 306 members in good standing in December 2017. About 70 percent are age 55 or older; about 70 percent live less than 10 miles from the church.
Open to others, we welcome people of any gender identity or orientation. Our commitment to LBGTQ people includes strong support for same-sex partnerships and marriages.
We are committed to racial and ethnic diversity, from our past help to refugees to our youth’s recent mission trip to historic sites in the Civil Rights Movement. We also have some regular attendees and members from cultures other than the dominant one.
We are widely known by the solar panels on our roof, visible from the adjacent highway. We are committed to protecting God’s creation, with an active Green Team that has promoted recycling, energy-efficiency and awareness of environmental impacts.
Feeding our neighbors has been a focus for our community. We also enjoy gathering together to socialize and celebrate as a community.
We have committed lay leadership and would like to encourage more of our parishioners and members of the broader community to participate in activities at the church and beyond our walls.
Vision for St. Christopher’s
Our vision for the future of St. Christopher’s combines a robust outward, missional focus with a strong liturgical and spiritual base centered in the Holy Eucharist. As we help one another grow into a deeper relationship with God and one another, we prepare ourselves to be in relationship with those outside our church walls. As we support one another in times of spiritual and pastoral need, we want to increase our concern for others. At St. Christopher’s, we strive to mirror our core values of caring and inclusion of others while at the same time retaining the rich tradition of the Episcopal Church. We are challenged to live in a changing world. We realize that carrying out our vision is a shared responsibility of parish leadership and of every member of our church.
